Goal
The Upper Midwest Hydrogen Initiative wants to accelerate North America’s shift toward clean, domestic hydrogen production and use through:Pilot demonstrations, Research, Public education, Policy reform
Description
Northern H Corridors Initiative. A ten-year, coordinated effort to establish a hydrogen-fueling infrastructure along major Upper Midwest interstate transportation corridors, linking Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin and the Canadian Manitoba. Proposed station locations are: Ames, Des Moines, Alexandria or St. Cloud, Duluth, Minneapolis, Fargo, Grand Forks, Brookings, Sioux Falls, Madison and Winnipeg. Northern H Energy Stations would offer a unique, multi-fuel network that can support off-road fleet vehicles (like those at airports and distibution centers), take advantage of higher efficiency transportation technologies available today, such as flexible-fuel and hybrid-electric vehicles and support hydrogen fuel cell vehicles when they are ready. The stations may also produce electricity, via fuel cell for on-site use and for sale to the grid via CHP if possible.
