Goal
Description
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) adopted a Clean Fuels Strategy in December 2000. The Zero-Emission Bus Demonstration Program is a joint effort between VTA and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). The program consists of using Zero Emission Bus technology in transit revenue service, facility modifications, the installation of a hydrogen fueling station at VTA's Cerone division, and training for VTA and SamTrans personnel on the new technology. VTA, SamTrans, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the U.S. Department of Energy will evaluate bus performance and fuel cell technology.
